BDT 3,000

Quantity
The MOONDROP CHU 3 is a 10mm dynamic driver IEM with a full metal build and — for the first time in the CHU line — a detachable 0.78mm 2-pin cable. Tuned to MOONDROP's JM-1 target for natural vocals and controlled bass, it runs loud from any phone dongle without an amp.
Key Features
Detachable 0.78mm 2-pin cable — replace a damaged cable instead of the whole earphone, or attach Bluetooth earhooks to go wireless
10mm Al-Mg composite diaphragm — fast transients, treble extension to 50kHz, distortion under 0.1%
CNC-machined brass nozzle — reduces high-frequency standing waves for smoother, clearer vocals
PopAvg-DF (JM-1) tuning — HRTF-based target curve for balanced tonality and clear instrument separation
Cast zinc alloy body — anti-corrosion coating, ergonomic shape for long listening sessions
Easy to drive — 16Ω and 118dB sensitivity, full volume from a phone or basic dongle

Why Choose the CHU III?
The CHU line is what most people recommend when someone asks for their first proper pair of earphones, and this is the third generation. The big change is the detachable cable — earlier CHU models had the cable fixed to the housing, so a single break ended the earphone. Now it's a standard 0.78mm 2-pin, replaceable cheaply or upgradeable to a balanced cable or Bluetooth earhooks.
Inside is a 10mm dynamic driver with an aluminium-magnesium alloy composite diaphragm. The stiffer diaphragm keeps distortion low and handles fast passages without smearing, so busy tracks stay clean rather than turning muddy. The nozzle is CNC-machined brass and the shell is cast zinc alloy — metal throughout, which is unusual at this price and a large part of why the CHU III feels far more expensive than it is.
Tuning follows MOONDROP's PopAvg-DF (JM-1) target, a research-based curve rather than a bass-heavy consumer sound. Expect natural vocals, mids that sit forward enough to hear clearly, and controlled bass that supports the track instead of covering it. At 16Ω and 118dB sensitivity, it runs loud straight from a phone dongle — no amplifier or DAC needed, though it scales if you add one later.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a DAC or amplifier?
No. At 16Ω with 118dB sensitivity, the CHU III plays loud from a phone dongle, laptop, or any 3.5mm source. A dedicated dongle DAC can tighten the sound slightly, but it's optional.
What's the difference between CHU III and CHU II?
The detachable cable is the main one — CHU II had a fixed cable, so damage meant replacing the whole unit. The CHU III also uses an upgraded Al-Mg composite diaphragm, a brass nozzle, and the newer JM-1 target tuning.
Is it bass-heavy?
No. The tuning targets a neutral reference curve, so bass is present and textured rather than boosted. If you want heavy sub-bass for EDM or hip-hop, this isn't that kind of earphone — it favours accuracy and vocal clarity.
Does it have a microphone?
The stock cable has no mic. For calls, swap in a 2-pin cable with an inline mic — inexpensive and takes seconds to change.
Are the stock ear tips good enough?
They work for most people. Getting a proper seal matters more than the tips themselves — a loose fit is the most common reason IEMs sound thin on bass, so try all three sizes before judging the sound.
Does it block outside noise?
Passive isolation only, no ANC. With a good tip seal it blocks a reasonable amount of traffic and crowd noise, which is enough for most commuting.
